1st Feb 2023

On January 30,2023 at a meeting chaired by the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor John Ofosu-Anim, some faculty members of Central University had an interactive session with Dr. Suayip Turan,an Assistant Professor and Head of the International Office and Erasmus Coordinator (Department of Labour Economics and Industrial Relations) at Cankiri Karatekin University.

“The purpose of this meeting was to receive our guest and interact with him, and discuss the collaboration of our Erasmus Mobility partnership”, the Pro-VC explained. “We look forward to deepening the interaction to make the partnership stronger” he added. In January 2020, both institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Erasmus Mobility Program for learners and staff.

It is refreshing to state that the first batch of students and staff (Faculty and Administration) from Central University will be in Turkey in February and March respectively. Likewise, selected students and staff from Cankiri Karatekin University will be visiting Ghana in the subsequent semesters. As a requirement of the European Union sponsored Erasmus program, the selection of candidates for the exchange visits were undertaken through local Selection Committees put together by the Management of the two respective universities.

Professor Clara Korkor Fayorsey, Ag. Dean for School of Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Ransford Antwi, Ag. Dean for Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; Prof. Steven Abbeney-Mickson, Dean of School of Engineering and Technology; Dr. James-Paul Kretchy, Vice-Dean of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences; and Dr. Evans Sokro, Head of Department of Human Resource and Vice-Dean, Central Business School (CBS) were present at the meeting.

Also present was Mrs. Gertrude Nelson, the Head of the Centre for International Relations who serves as the liaison between Central University and Cankiri Karatekin. And in attendance was Prof. Anthony Amoah, a former Head of Department of Economics at Central University.

Beyond discussions on the Erasmus Mobility Program, the meeting explored other areas of collaboration and partnership by the two universities with focus on research in the areas of Digitalization; Green energy; and Sustainable energy.
