11th Oct 2018

Central University, the foremost private Christian university in Ghana, on Wednesday 10th October 2018 matriculated 1714 freshmen and women during its 21st Matriculation ceremony held at the Miotso campus.

At the end of the September admission period, 1819 applications were received and 1714 admissions offered  out of which 947 are females and 767 are males. The freshmen and women will be pursuing graduate and undergraduate programmes in the 8 schools and faculties in the university.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bill B Puplampu welcomed and congratulated the students for choosing to come to Central University. He challenged them to allow the various programmes and activities designed by the University to transform them. He also admonished them to stay focused, be committed to their studies and not succumb to peer pressure. He further noted that peer pressure forces one to become who others want them to be and not what they themselves know they have to be.

The Vice-Chancellor also underscored the fact that Central University has zero tolerance for illicit drugs, occultic groups and examination malpractices and anyone who falls foul of the law will be dealt with according to the laid down procedures and dismissed where necessary.

The Chaplain, Rev Fiifi Otabi-Wilson in a short exhortation from Psalm 1:1-3 encouraged the freshmen and women to be mindful of the company they keep and where they spend their time. He reminded them that God is a faithful rewarder of those who seek him and he will reward diligence and hard work. He challenged them to trust God to invent new things and to wisely combine spirituality with academic excellence in order to emerge as a special brand of citizens who will impact their generation.

The Registrar, Mr. Emil Afenyo administered the matriculation oath and reminded the matriculants that Central University is a Christian university and as such our activities are guided by our faith in Jesus Christ.

The ceremony was attended by members of convocation, staff, parents and guardians of the matriculants and students. Another matriculation ceremony will be held at the Kumasi campus for students who will be having their lectures in Kumasi.
