The Department of Environment and Development Studies has introduced an evolving area of academic discipline which involves a combination of such subjects as geography, economics, law and management studies. This interdisciplinary programme is based on the wide definition of the environment as the totality of the physical and human surroundings, the different methods and levels of human interaction with the physical
elements and the respective outcomes. It also deals with the various management practices that have been designed to address the results of the environment and development interactions.
